The Surprising Beauty of Brokenness

The Surprising Beauty of Brokenness

What a week of inspiration! We had such fun at the kick-off “mini-retreat.” Never have I met so many wonderful women and experienced such a special connection.

With my new friend Kim’s expert planning and instruction, truly a testament to the power of example, nearly one hundred women completed the craft in less than an hour!

Just take a look at the beautiful creations, each so unique but wonderfully made from the same materials:

Many of the broken dishes were from my basement collection, once used to create my own family heirloom mirrors. I couldn’t help smiling as I studied each piece. Remnants of what used to be a part of my home life had been transformed into someone’s new creation!

I was also privileged to share with the group several passages from my book and some of the lessons I’ve learned while struggling through tough losses.

After I spoke and began to watch these women fashion the beautiful from the broken, Mark Nepo’s words from The Book of Awakening came to mind:

“Ultimately, it is where we are not perfect-where we are broken and cracked, where the wind whistles through-that is the stuff of transformation.”

Yes!

In my experience, our losses have the power to connect us, even transform us as we try to create the life we want from the life we have. How about you? Have you experienced this, too? Tell me about it. I’d love to know.

My best – always,

Becky  (Neehah! Note the new name!)
