My 2026 Theme Word

My 2026 Theme Word

Although I chose my 2026 theme word in late December, my infamous six-day stay in the hospital sidetracked its launch—and a whole lot of other plans! But now, I want to pause before plunging back into the “game” and share it with you.

My theme word for this year is a simple one that I’ve learned to hold close to my heart, especially in challenging times: CHERISH

My theme word for this year is a simple one that I’ve learned to hold close to my heart, especially in challenging times: CHERISH

When I focus on what I cherish, the hard things in life seem to soften a little.

Cherish is a warm word. One that ignites the heart to expand with gratitude for something that has already happened.

We can pluck a memory or a moment, warm it with our thoughts and recollections, and let it invigorate or calm our very centers.

The act of cherishing isn’t automatic, however. We have to take time to remember and revel. We may have to think about it, even dwell on something small that we may have overlooked.

Despite life hardships this year, I’ve had so much to cherish.

Beyond these cherished memories, I must also cherish the actions of my friends and family who have been so patient and tolerant of me. I can be a handful when I don’t feel well and I don’t have a plan and I’ve experienced both of those multiple times since January 11th.

But the moments I cherished still happened, despite my antics! I’m grateful to all who put up with my delay in responses, cryptic answers, and brittle behavior.

And on we go. And remember, “Stay in the game.”

How about you? What moments have you experienced this year that you can cherish? Who should you thank for those?

My best – always,

Becky  (Nana B)

P.S. For those following along in Morning Fuel, you’ll note today’s entry, February 12: Unchosen Paths marks the day I was paralyzed 29 years ago. What a life, right!? So different than anything I could have ever imagined—and yet, there have been so many CHERISHED moments along the way. Thank you for being part of what I cherish most about living through challenging times–the power of community.

Rewritten by HerP.P.S. Today I want to share with you a special article recently published that features a moment I will forever CHERISH—the 1997 email from my high school buddy, Scott, that launched my writing career.  Click HERE (or the image) to read.
