This week’s inspiration comes from Mother Nature. She has wreaked havoc with my schedule during the last couple of weeks. After a little snow, several mornings of ice, and a lot of Plan B days, I found myself with extra time to look out on my deck and consider her handiwork.
The words of the ancient Greek philosopher Heraclitus, considered by some to be the world’s first creativity teacher, came to mind:
The sun is new each day.
I must say, I’d missed that member of Mother Nature’s family and was grateful for her periodic return along with the “newness” she could offer each day.
With her shadows, she can cut fresh patterns on the ruts of our thinking.
With her intensity, she can turn black ice into a mirror of beauty.
Even frozen crystals, once the glaze of overhead trees, can now sparkle with life when her brilliance stretches to touch them.
Maybe I’m obsessed with her and her powers. One of my friends captured some of my early morning SnapChat greetings, framed them, and gave it to me for Christmas.
Okay, so I’m obsessed.
Or maybe I’m simply in awe of the sun and the possibilities she offers. Her strength. Her ability to bring a fresh look to the ordinary, the ruts of routine, and even the frustrations of Plan B days.
I’ll admit it. Her unexpected promise to transform inspires me.
How about you? Does Mother Nature inspire you? Tell me about it. I’d love to know.
My best – always,
Becky (Neehah! Note the new name!)
P.S. If you are in the local Baltimore area, I hope you stop by this fundraising event for Pathfinders for Autism and buy a few raffle tickets! I’ll be there Friday afternoon. Come see me!
P.S.S. Madison continues to transition beautifully to her new residential and day program. Last week she went roller skating! Love the new hairdo! Thank you for your thoughts, prayers, encouragement and support through the epic fails, closed doors, and obstacles we’ve faced together. She is thriving!
