About this conversation

A little room to refuel

Mandy and I talk about how journaling helped me give words to loss, how sharing my story connected me with others, and why Morning Fuel is an invitation to pause. We also explore a reminder I need myself: a nourishing routine can fit the life we are actually living, even when the day gets away from us.

Five ideas to carry with you

  1. Be honest about what you feel

Writing helped me get swirling thoughts onto paper. Naming what I felt was a starting point for making those feelings more manageable.

  2. Know who is in your boat

I look at the people and resources available to help me through each loss. The support I need can change with the circumstances.

  3. Notice what is here today

A blossom in the yard, the person beside us, or a passage worth highlighting can bring our attention back to the present.

  4. Let your routine be flexible

I have turned to Morning Fuel at nine o’clock at night. Taking that pause when I can helps it remain a source of encouragement instead of another obligation.

  5. Choose the next step with care

I ask what matters most right now and give myself permission to delay other things. Mandy reminds us that stillness, too, can be part of moving forward.
