The “Ornaments” of the Holidays

The “Ornaments” of the Holidays

It’s a holiday week but I wanted to share this quick thought with you, courtesy of a dear friend’s Christmas card. I love Ralph Waldo Emerson, but had never read this quote:

The ornament of a house is the people who frequent it.

Isn’t that so true?

Folks breeze in and out, each leaving their own imprint.

We prepare. We experience. We create memories. In the process, our homes are touched and transformed by each visitor. Daily routines shift into new rhythms and moods depending on those who join us and the energy they bring.

Just like each ornament on our Christmas tree gives it personality, so do the guests who visit our homes. Some sparkle with an upbeat attitude and can-do spirit. Others add depth and texture, sharing family stories and traditions. A few may bring a bit of drama and stir up a little chaos while the presence of others, especially little ones, create a whole new vibe.

How about you? How was your home “decorated” this year? Tell me about it. I’d love to know.

My best – always,

Becky  (Nana B)

P.S. A few “ornaments” in my home this year:
